Ernie Els wins 2012 British Open

Adam Scott (-6) melted on the back-9 at Royal Lytham & St Annes Sunday, paving the way for Ernie Els (-7) to capture the 2012 British Open title and his fourth major.

Els birdied the 18th hole and then watched Scott struggle to find his way out of a bunker on 18. Scott had a chance to force a playoff with a putt within 10 feet on 18, but could not sink it.

Tiger Woods was in the hunt for much of the tournament but had a triple bogey on the 6th hole and was unable to make up ground. He finished the tournament 3-under.
