Another candidate threw his hat into the race for Calgary’s mayor yesterday, bringing the total to seven.
Craig Burrows, former Ward 6 alderman, outlined some of his goals at Spolumbos deli in Inglewood, while criticizing the current city council.
“While most Calgarians were concerned about job security or pay cuts, council voted themselves a 5.5 per cent raise (and) built a designer bridge without due process or justification during a world economic crisis,” said Burrows.
“I will work with Calgarians to establish a vision based on open communication, building consensus, and commitment to action.”
Burrows lost his Ward 6 seat in the 2007 municipal election to current alderman Joe Connelly, who is also running for mayor.
Burrows said some of his goals include improving relations between the city and the province as well as increasing communication amongst council members.
“I am not running against someone,” he said. “I am running for something and that is a better Calgary.”
