Exposition managers fear Lansdowne ouster

Plans for the future of Lansdowne Park won’t be revealed until August 26, but some of the park’s main tenants are already seeing ominous signs that they may be forced out.

Members of the Ottawa Association of Exposition Managers organize nearly 50 major shows per year, occupying some part of Lansdowne Park around 250 days out of the year, but president Michael Rodgers said plans appear to be moving forward without them.

The city is locked in negotiations with the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group over future plans for the park.

Rodgers said his association won’t see any details for another four weeks.

“All our discussions with those people directly, and with the city, indicate that they have no interest maintaining the trade space in Lansdowne Park.”

Rodgers said they will be meeting with city councillors and officials to make their case and discussion options for Lansdowne Park.
