Extension goes off the rails

BOSTON. In recent months the long-awaited plan to extend the Green Line past Lechmere station into Somerville and Medford was on track to be completed by 2014. But the most recent and promising push in years stalled Friday when state officials delayed the project until at least October 2015.

The delay is reportedly due to the year MassDOT spent negotiating an alternative location for a service yard they wanted to put next to the Brickbottom Condo Trust.
