Fashion Week no longer in style with Lincoln Center

Lincoln Center just lost another very fashionable accessory with its decision to kick Fashion Week off of its premises.

After a court battle, the decision comes as a settlement between the city, Lincoln Center and the NYC Park Advocates.

New York State Supreme Court Justice Margaret Chan dealt the decision on Tuesday writing: “IMG Fashion Week shall vacate the premises and remove all tents and other Fashion Week equipment from the park. [Lincoln Center] shall not renew the IMG Fashion sublicense agreement… [and] shall make best efforts to minimize damage to perennial shrubs and paintings.”

Neighbors of Lincoln Center have been fighting the fashion show’s presence in the area since it first arrived in 2010. They are of course ecstatic about the decision.

“Almost 5 years ago I woke up to the sound of power saws and watched helplessly as our beautiful neighborhood Park was destroyed by the monstrous Fashion Week,” Cleo Dana, Chair of Friends of Damrosch Park told the Post. “We are thrilled at the current settlement and that the Park will be rebuilt.

The New York Post also reports that insiders say that locations in downtown Manhattan are being eyed as a potential home.
