The Red Sox are really pulling out all the stops for David Ortiz’s final year on the team: free “500” necklaces, Big Papi bobbleheads, and both “Papi Gnome” and “Build-A-Papi” nights at Fenway Park.

Wednesday was no different, with the ball park honoring its big hitter with a life-size statue of himself made entirely of Legos. Plastic Papi.

The statue took 34,510 bricks and 290 hours to construct, Steve Saleeba, from the PR firm Elevate, said. Lego Master Builder Erik Varszegi oversaw its construction at the company’s North American headquarters in Enfield, Connecticut.

The colorful tribute weighs 170 pounds and stands a few inches taller than the real Ortiz, at 6’7”.

Baseball fans got a chance to see the statue for the first time Wednesday while attending the team’s home game, but Ortiz and his son D’Angelo got a special chance to preview the piece beforehand.

Fittingly, another piece, representing Ortiz and his son in Lego portrait form, was also unveiled.

You can check it out for yourself at Fenway Park’s Kid’s Concourse.
