A former Halifax man with a criminal history in Nova Scotia was charged yesterday with murder for a fatal shooting last month at a McDonald’s restaurant in Surrey, B.C.
Daon Gordon Glasgow, 26, was arrested Friday and charged with one count of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Terry Blake Scott, 39, at the restaurant.
Glasgow now resides in Surrey but previously lived in Halifax Regional Municipality, including Dartmouth, Uniacke Square and North Preston.
RCMP Cpl. Dale Carr, a spokesman for the province’s integrated homicide investigation team, said video surveillance from the McDonald’s played a significant role in the investigation.
According to a police statement, the shooting occurred around 6 p.m. on March 27 after an altercation broke out between two men at the rear of the restaurant, near the washrooms.
The shooter, a young man in his 20s with a scruffy beard, ran from the restaurant on foot, fleeing north.
Police said the shooting was linked to the street-level drug trade.
Glasgow has a criminal history in Nova Scotia, including several convictions as a youth.
His most recent conviction in Nova Scotia as an adult came on Aug. 22, 2006, when he was sentenced to six months in jail for impersonation with intent to gain, resisting and obstructing a peace officer, and failing to attend.
On Jan. 10, 2003, Glasgow was sentenced to one year in jail for wrongful delivery of firearms.
