As the four-pad project in Bedford goes up, so does the cost.
An extra $628,528 is needed because they had to move the building a little, explained Philip Townsend, the municipality’s infrastructure manager.
“It’s not unusual to have cost increases of 10 to 15 per cent on every build,” he told council yesterday.
But several councillors expressed concerns about cost overruns. Dartmouth Centre Coun. Gloria McCluskey said she was always worried about going forward with such a big project without federal funding. “And now we’re seeing the results of that,” she said.
A $400,000 grant from the Green Municipal Fund will help with the majority of the cost overrun.
