Donations are pouring in for the Watertown man whose boat was the subject of an intense police search last week when it was discovered that the Boston Marathon bombing suspect was hiding in the vessel.

A Crowdtilt page named “Let’s Fix David Henneberry’s Boat (That Got Ruined in the Boston Bomber’s Standoff)!” has so far raised nearly $5,000 of its $50,000 goal.

Police have said that Henneberry went outside to get some air Friday after authorities lifted the shelter-in-place order. He noticed blood around his boat, and when he looked inside to check on it, he saw a body and called police.

Alleged Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, was hiding inside. After a standoff Friday night that included police tactical teams lobbing flash-bangs into the boat, Tsarnaev was arrested.

Tsarnaev took refuge in the boat after he and his older brother Tamerlan allegedly got into a gunfight with police during a chase. His brother was killed.
