It’s a school of fish, a murder of crows and a swarm of butterflies, but what do you call a group of women?
When they’re descending upon Vancouver’s biggest shoe sale it’s “civilized chaos,” according to Silvio Urbani, the footwear buyer for Army & Navy, which today kicks off its epic shoe blowout.
“Last year I called it the running of the bulls,” he said.
For the next 12 days Army & Navy will be selling designer shoes like Steve Maddens, Oscar de la Rentas, Ann Taylors and Richard Tylers at up to 80 per cent less than retail price.
Last year, Urbani said 78,000 of the 100,000 shoes were sold.
Loreli Alviz, 25, shopped at the store on her lunch break.
“A girlfriend … found out they released the shoes early so we wanted to beat the rush,” said Alviz with a basket full of shoes.
“I’ve only been here 15 minutes.”
