Give your input on the proposed restoration of the W line

This April the MTA is asking for your input on some proposed changes.

The transit agency announced last month the possible return of the W subway line and changes to N/Q service as it prepares to open phase 1 of the Second Avenue subway.

Once the new line is open, the Q train will run under Second Avenue from 96th Street to 72nd Street, reaching new stations at 96th Street, 86th Street and 72nd Street.

Then south of 72nd Street, the Q will connect to Lexington Ave/63rd Street, where commuters can make a cross-platform transfer to the F. Also west of the Lexington Ave/63rd Street station, the new service would connect to the Broadway Line express at the 57 Street -7th Ave Station and continue south.

The proposed restored W subway line — which the MTA previously said would be implemented in the fall — will replace the existing Q subway service in Astoria, then operate local in Manhattan, where it will end at Whitehall Street.

The N line would operate express in Manhattan between Canal Street and 34th Street-Herald Square.

The MTA will hold a public hearing on April 7 at 5 p.m. on the 20th floor at 2 Broadway for the public to give their input on these proposed changes.
