Going from one court to another

A former university basketball star has pleaded guilty to flashing people earlier this year in Halifax.

Neil James Wayne MacDonald, 25, appeared in Sydney provincial court yesterday and pleaded guilty to seven charges of an indecent act in connection with seven incidents, which took place mostly in south-end Halifax around Dalhousie University from March 21 to 26.

MacDonald will be sentenced on Dec. 8 and has been ordered to undergo a sex-offender assessment before that date.

A pre-sentence report will also be presented to the court.

MacDonald is a Sydney Mines native who now calls Halifax home.

MacDonald’s lawyer was granted the right to have the case moved from Halifax to Sydney where the guilty plea was entered.

MacDonald was arrested in late March after another incident of a man exposing himself to a woman took place on March 26.

Police say the victim complained a man exposed his genitals and committed an indecent act on Friday evening as she was walking on Pepperell and Preston streets near Quinpool Road.
