Grand venue for an education fair

Representatives from some of New York’s leading colleges will be offering advice on further and higher education options at Metro’s Education Fair today.

Taking place within Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central, the event gives would-be students the chance to meet admissions directors and a range of education professionals.

It is aimed at potential students, some of whom might be working professionals who are too busy to attend traditional, campus-based open-house events.

The fair runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Laura Jack, director of Marketing and Communications at the City University of New York, said: “We found the Metro Education Fair to be incredibly valuable in meeting prospective students who might not otherwise have time to attend a more traditional fair.

“Our academic programs are tailored to meet the needs of working adults, and the Metro Education Fair helped us to target our recruitment efforts. It put us in the position to provide information and answer questions on a one-on-one basis in a location that was easy for us and our prospects.”

Tony Metcalf, editor-in-chief at Metro US, said: “Vanderbilt Hall and Grand Central were chosen as the venue for Metro’s second education fair of 2011 because its location is convenient for a lot of people.

“We’re delighted to be working with such prestigious colleges to open up a world of further and higher education to potential students.”
