Here’s the schedule for Prospect Park Movie Nights 2018

Prospect Park movie nights kick off on July 18 with the Wizard of Oz.
MGM Studios

Summer outdoor movie season brings free films to just about every park in New York City, but there’s something special about Prospect Park movie nights.

The annual Summer Movies Under the Stars brings free outdoor to Prospect Park’s Long Meadow North starting on July 18, featuring family-friendly favorites starting with the Wizard of Oz. But there’s also much more to do at Movies Under the Stars.

Before showtime, Prospect Park’s free outdoor screening series begins with family-friendly activities usually starting at 6 p.m. provided by museums, city agencies and family groups, and will vary with each movie. At 7 p.m., local musicians will keep filmgoers entertained until showtime at sundown.

Boxed Water will hand out free water (while supplies last), with Nitehawk Cinema popping up the popcorn and giving away prizes before each show. And unlike some screenings that don’t allow picnics, everyone is encouraged to pack their favorite snacks — no alcohol though — and make a night of it.

Prospect Park movie nights are hosted by the Brooklyn Borough President’s Office, Prospect Park Alliance and Nitehawk Cinema, whose second location in Park Slope is set to open later this summer.

Long Meadow North is located close to the Grand Army Plaza entrance on Eastern Parkway, near the Brooklyn Museum stop on the 2, 3, and 4 subway lines. Visit Summer Movies Under the Stars for more info.
