Cameras will be rolling in the South End again this week as Denzel Washington’s “Equalizer 2” continues filming in Boston.
According to a note sent out to residents, the production will take over the neighborhood on Wednesday, Oct. 11, and Thursday, Oct. 12. Parking restrictions will be in place on several streets near Union Park, so plan ahead in case this affects your commute.
Vehicular traffic will be closed off during filming in the area around Union Park and Shawmut Ave., however, pedestrian access will not be impeded. Drivers in the neighborhood should also look out for parking restrictions around Waltham St., Public Alley 701, Upton St., Harrison Ave. and Washington St.
Last month, Washington’s action thriller was spotted filming at Darryl’s Corner Bar & Kitchen in the South End.
The production encountered a pretty scary moment recently as two men were arrested following a non-fatal double shooting incident on the set of “Equalizer 2.” According to Variety, the Quincy Police Department arrested 18-year-olds Dionte Martinez and Thomas Perkins last week after they allegedly fled the scene of the crime on Whittier St. in Roxbury five days prior.
Two security guards were reportedly injured during the incident and were sent to area hospitals for treatment. As for Martinez and Perkins, the duo was charged with assault with intent to murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.
“Equalizer 2,” the sequel to Washington’s 2014 hit film that also filmed in Boston, isn’t the only Hollywood production to set up shop in the Hub this year. Amy Schumer was spotted all over town this summer as she filmed her new comedy “I Feel Pretty.” The upcoming X-Men spin-off flick “New Mutants”spent some time filming in the Bay State as well earlier this year.
“Equalizer 2” is expected to hit theaters on Sept. 14, 2018.
