Homegrown horror at Bear Trap Lake

Shot on the shores of Bear Trap Lake, The Corrupted is a made-in-Alberta movie coming to a film festival near you.

From the twisted minds of co-directors and writers Knighten Richman and John Klappstein, comes an independent sci-fi horror film that will keep you away from the family cabin for a while.

“I came up with the idea based on a nightmare I had and we just started writing it from there,” Richman said.

The Corrupted is about a group of friends staying at a cabin for the summer.

One of the friends starts to act really strange, but by the time the others find out what’s wrong with him, it’s too late.

The film was shot over two weeks in Alberta on a small budget using the super hi-def camera, The Red One.

“I’m really proud of it because for the amount it cost, it looks way better than it should have,” Richman said. “Everybody who worked on this project was young and talented. It was all their first movie so everyone wanted it to be really good.”
