Honey makes 34 saves as Brandon blanks Ice

CRANBROOK, B.C. – Brandon rookie goaltender Curtis Honey made 34 saves, getting a shutout in his first career Western Hockey League win as the Wheat Kings beat the Kootenay Ice 1-0 Tuesday.

In the first period the Wheat Kings (24-22-3) created a turnover at the Ice blue-line for a 3-on-1 break, and Kevin Sundher’s wrist shot beat Ice goalie Nathan Lieuwen on the glove side.

It was Sundher’s first goal in a Brandon uniform.

Lieuwen made 27 saves, but the Ice (27-14-6) were shut out for the first time this season.
