The Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers was happy to announce the newest category to their Recognizing Immigrant Success in Edmonton, or RISE Awards.
The new category is the RISE Employer Awards, which will be coupled with the already established RISE Community Awards.
RISE co-ordinator Bill Hallam explained that the goal of the new award would be to give deserving organizations the acknowledgment they deserve.
“The RISE Employer Awards are meant to publicly recognize the good practices of employers that result in welcoming immigrants into the workplace,” he said.
The Sutton Place Hotel will host the RISE Employer Awards ceremony on April 29.
And two weeks later, on May 13, the RISE Community Awards will be given out at the Maclab Theatre at the Citadel.
Handed out since 2004, the community aspect for these awards focus on individual achievement of immigrants in our city.
Live music and performances are scheduled for each ceremony, as well as some keynote speakers.
Tickets for both events are still available, but are expected to sell out soon.
