Once upon a time pencil skirts were mainly spotted on commuters heading to swish corporate offices. Then the fashion crowd remembered Christian Dior’s iconic creation and quickly gave it a bold makeover.
Even this one by Forever 21, on Almudena Guerra, with its oversize floral print on an egg yolk-colored background looks fun and office-ready. But she’s managed to get rid of any stuffiness by styling it with her adorably geeky “Goonies” T-shirt.
The rest of this look also involves contrasts: the practicality of her three-quarter-length Bottega Veneta coat vs. the whimsy of her baby pink Valentino boots, made sexy with sheer panel detailing and stacked heels. The same goes for that turquoise clutch. It’s the kind of thing you’d normally spot on a swanky restaurant table, but here it gives a final contradictory touch.
