Idle-free filmmaking

Move over Canadian Idol, the city is looking for the next Canadian idle.

The Be Idle Free video contest awards night takes place Nov. 3, and the city is hoping to find Canada’s next great movie director.

The Be Idle Free contest invited young people between the ages of seven to 18 to submit a video of three minutes or less showing the hazards of car idling.

The contest has attracted 20 video entries from around the capital region.

Awards will be handed out in four categories: ages 7-11; ages 12-14; ages 15-18, and the grand prize.

The winning videos in each category will be shown at the event.
