‘Important straights come to Fairy Tales,’ says film fest director

Over the next week Calgarians can relax, kick off their heels, and take in a movie at the Fairy Tales Queer Film Festival, which runs until June 4.

The festival will showcase films and other visual arts surrounding issues affecting the GLBTQ community.

“Don’t be fooled or frightened by the GLBTQ acronym, Fairy Tales is for everyone,” said programming director Jessica Dollard. She encourages people especially to come to Wednesday’s two-for-one “Bring a Straight Night,” where they will be screening Beyond Gay:

The Politics of Pride, which takes a look at Pride festivals globally.

“I think it’s important straights come to Fairy Tales because the issues we’re talking about are universal,” said Dollard.
