Intoxicated MTA driver takes bus for joyride

An MTA driver decided to have a little fun on his day off Sunday and took a city bus out for a weekend drive on Long Island — all while allegedly drunk.

A Farmingdale trooper, after receiving several calls about a NYC transit bus driving erratically on the Northern State Parkway in Nassau County, pulled over Alexander Copeland, 52, of Medford, N.Y., about 2:20 p.m., cops said.

Police detected the smell of alcohol on Copeland’s breath and administered a sobriety test, which measured more than double the legal limit at .20 percent.

Copeland, who was not authorized to drive the bus at the time of his joyride, was charged with reckless endangerment, unauthorized use of a vehicle without owners consent, aggravated DWI and traffic violations.

The transit employee has been with the MTA as a driver since 1998 and was suspended without pay, according to WABC. He still faces more disciplinary action.
