On the last day of Christmas, the Country Hills Toyota gave four Tundra’s full, three weeks of hauling, two elves packing and a FJ Cruiser extra load of food to the food bank.
Energy 101.5 and Country Hills Toyota teamed up to bring several truckloads of food to the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank, according to station Goodwill ambassador Carlos Cuevas.
“I think this really shows how giving Calgarians are, especially with the economy, and how willing they are to help out others in need,” he said.
Cuevas spent three weeks picking up donations from school, large corporations, individuals and groups, even hauling in a $2,000 anonymous donation worth of Costco food.
“It’s just amazing to see how Calgarians respond, time and time again.”
Country Hills Toyota managers Farid Shivji and Farlee Frunchak said they jumped at the opportunity to help out others and the whole staff jumped on board.
“We believe nobody should have to go hungry and everybody here just wanted to do our part and we would do it again next year, same time, same place,” they said.
Last year Energy 101.5 raised $10,000 in food and cash donations and said this year would exceed that goal, promotions co-ordinator Tricia Kindleman said.
