James Joyce ready to celebrate the Irish way

Calgary is green with life as St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated throughout the city in numerous ways.

Throughout the day and night, diners and pubs will be thriving with excitement and happy folks.

James Joyce Irish Pub on Stephen Avenue is starting the celebrations early, opening at 8 a.m.
“Line ups will start early in the morning and everyone will come and have a good time because, on St. Patrick’s Day, it’s all about having a good time,” said owner Gerard Curran.

Several bands, musicians, and dancers will perform at the pub throughout the night to create a traditional Irish ambience.

“Everyone will celebrate being Irish for a day, even if they aren’t Irish.”

A typical St. Patrick’s Day consists of Irish beer and the colour green. While the pub may be filled with an Irish aura, it will not be serving green beer.

“It’s the biggest day of the year and we will be serving beers such as Guinness, which is a solid icon of Ireland.”

If you’re headed there, VIP tickets go for $30 and are guaranteed with no wait in line.

Advanced tickets are $10 and tickets at the door are $15.
