Jason Wu creates clothes for a lady. So it’s no surprise that even the tough army-fatigue-like printed opening series felt buttoned-up.
Not every look played it safe, though. A sexy suede wrap dress with a deep V-neck and high slit added vamp to the refined, work-appropriate separates in white, black, navy and olive. But the eveningwear stole the show. Shimmering, beaded cocktail numbers and the two closing gowns, with their dangerously plunging necklines and exposed backs, will be red-carpet/black-tie gala fodder.
There were no new ideas here, but Wu’s exceptional tailoring makes it easy for his well-heeled customers to update her wardrobe.
