When it comes to gay marriage, Jay-Z agrees with President Barack Obama.
“It’s the right thing to do,” Jay-Z told CNN on Monday of supporting same-sex marriages. “What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love. That’s their business. It’s no different than discriminating against blacks. It’s discrimination plain and simple.”
“I’ve always thought it as something that was still holding the country back,” the rapper added, of not legalizing same-sex marriages.
Jay-Z, a Brooklyn native and co-owner of the soon-to-be-here Brooklyn Nets, dismissed suggestions that Obama’s public support of gay marriage last week could cost him valuable votes, particularly in the African-American community.
“It’s really not about votes,” Jay-Z insisted. “It’s about people.”
