After spending the first three years of his 10-year career in the NFL with the Jets, former NFL punter Louie Aguiar is returning to the place where it all started. On Tuesday, the Jets announced that Aguiar is joining the team as assistant special teams coach. The announcement of Aguiar comes amidst of flurry of changes to the coaching staff. The Jets also named Steve Hagen as tight ends coach, Ron Heller as assistant offensive line coach, Pierre Ngo as assistant strength and conditioning coach as well as Jeff Weeks as assistant defensive line/linebackers coach. Mike Devlin has been named offensive line coach, transitioning from his role last year as tight ends/assistant offensive line coach.

Names were also heading the opposite direction, as the Jets officially parted ways with offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo after one season. The move was not a surprise since he was closely tied to recently fired offensive coordinator Tony Sparano. In addition, assistant tight ends coach Lance Taylor has moved to the Panthers to be their assistant wide receivers coach.

The Jets have yet to name a replacement for Mike Westhoff, the team’s much-esteemed special teams coordinator, in addition to several other positional coaches.
