FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – So he’s saying there’s a chance.

Just in time for ‘Patriots Week,’ the New York Jets could welcome back running back Stevan Ridley to their roster soon, perhaps in time for Sunday’s game at the New England Patriots. Ridley, who has been inactive throughout training camp and the start of the regular season, has been recovering from offseason ACL and MCL surgery.

He was full on Wednesday, leading head coach Todd Bowles to say “there’s a chance” that Ridley is activated as early as this weekend.

“He ran around,” Bowles said on Wednesday following practice. “He ran around.”

Ridley, a former Patriot, is now two years removed from a career-best 1,273 rushing yards for New England. With fellow running back Chris Ivory getting so many carries this season and Bilal Powell injured, the return of Ridley would add to a surprisingly good offense.

“It’ll be a tough call. We’ll see what kind of shape he’s in, see if we need him and go from there,” Bowles said. “It’ll be a day-by-day thing.”
