Kids on Cloud 9 after plane ride

Four-year-old Peyton Hall was most excited to meet Santa Claus when she arrived at the City Centre Airport yesterday.

But as she boarded a Cessna Citation jet to take a 45-minute spin around the skies of Edmonton, she constantly peered out the window to search for Santa’s reindeer.

“We’re just really thankful to be able to try something different that we don’t normally do,” said Peyton’s mom, Lisa.

Peyton was one of 12 children who had a chance to board one of three flights along with Santa and Mrs. Claus, thanks to Telus and the Kids With Cancer Society.

Peyton was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma in August, meaning she has a tumour in her brain stem — an illness for which there is no cure. The treatments wound up mid-October, just in time for a trip to Disneyworld for Halloween, courtesy of the Make a Wish Foundation.

Yesterday was her second plane ride.

“It’s a great opportunity,” said her dad, Jason, of being offered the chance to take flight.

“They’ve done so much for the kids that have these horrible situations.”
