Liberal boss Ignatieff slams lack of stimulus cheques from Ottawa

MONTREAL – Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff is slamming the federal government for failing to dish out stimulus dollars.

But he isn’t talking yet about a possible summer election.

Ignatieff told a town hall luncheon in Montreal he wants to know what’s happened to the federal stimulus cheques.

He made the comments just hours after Prime Minister Stephen Harper delivered his economic progress report.

Harper says 80 per cent of stimulus money has already been distributed.

He says some 3,000 projects are already underway.

The Liberals threatened to take down the minority government if the report didn’t show progress on rolling out the $22.7 billion.

Still, Ignatieff would need the support of the Bloc and NDP to bring down the government and they don’t appear keen on an election.
