Regis: Your Connection to the Biomedical Boom!

Massachusetts is the hub of the life-sciences world. All the big companies – Genzyme, Novartis, Pfizer – are here, as are a growing number of smaller start-ups. That means thousands of jobs are available for those with the right educational background. The Regis Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences program offers the graduate education needed to start or advance a career in the biomedical sciences.

With courses such as “Biostatistics” “Cell and Tissue Biology” and “Current Topics in Biomedical Research”, the MS in Biomedical Sciences offers rigorous interdisciplinary coursework in the basic sciences that are foundational to biomedical research. The program provides an emphasis on the critical evaluation of research, as well as the application of knowledge and skills to biomedical development. For recent graduate, Madison Gomes, a Life Sciences Researcher at Alkemers, Inc., the program was “essential to my growth and development for the cutting edge, fast paces, and challenging work I do.”

All Biomedical Sciences students participate in a field experience in biomedical research which allows them to demonstrate their skills while giving them hands-on experience in the workplace. Students develop the skills and knowledge needed for leadership and supervisory roles in biomedical research and development in nonprofit organizations such as university, hospital, and government research laboratories, as well as in the business sector of biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Elective courses like “Overview of FDA Regulations” and “Advance Writing for Health Professionals” prepare them to interact effectively in industry by enhancing a practical understanding of management, business, clinical trial design, public health, and effective communication.

A part-time program, the Regis MS in Biomedical Sciences offers courses year round (Fall, Spring, and Summer Semesters). A student taking two courses each semester can earn a degree in just 28 months. Students may elect to take additional coursework to earn a certificate in Clinical Research Management, Public Health, or Health Informatics.
