Short films are entering the new age.
Traditionally seen ahead of a feature film or on short TV spots, the short film has been struggling to find the limelight of late. Commercials and the revenue they bring have left them behind.
To fight back, the National Film Board is hitting the web.
“They are going to have online virtually eventually every film then NFB. has ever made,” says NFB spokesperson Gordon Imlach of the tens of thousands of films in the Board’s library.
So far 800 or so are online, with the promise of many more to come.
“In the past the only way you could see N.F.B. films is if they appeared on televisions or if they were in front of movies, but they are no longer really in movies anymore.”
