Lookalikes looking for love

With just 48 hours to go in the Royal Wedding countdown, Europe’s 10 best Prince William and Kate Middleton lookalikes gathered by London landmark Tower Bridge to find out if they had won the final round of a royal lookalike contest.

Hundreds of entrants from all over Europe entered a competition launched by cheap flight airline EasyJet, but it was Simon Watkinson from U.K. and Orsola Rossi from Italy who were crowned as the ultimate Prince and Princess lookalikes. They each won a year’s worth of free EasyJet flights.

“I have never thought about being a Kate lookalike until 20 days ago when a friends told me I look like the bride-to-be,” Orsola Rossi, 30, from Milan told Metro. “I don’t think I will profit from it, but I really enjoy visiting London and being a Kate lookalike.”

“It is unbelievable that many strange people on the streets keep telling me I look like William,” said Simon Watkinson, 29, an engineer who now works as a Prince William impersonator and bears the most remarkable resemblance to the future King.

“I think one of the reasons is that William is sort of losing his hair a bit, and mine’s receding a little,” he added before he kissed a Kate lookalike on the cheek, just like Prince William would do to Kate.

Besides the most similar appearances to Will and Kate, the judges also assessed how the ‘Kates’ threw their bouquets and curtseyed in their wedding dress, and how well the RAF uniform-attired Wills’ proposed to their brides on one knee.
