Luck of the Irish, or Huskies?

Another win for the Huskies, or will the fourth time be the charm for the Irish?

UConn and Notre Dame play for the fourth time this season Sunday night at the Women’s Final Four, and the stakes could not be higher: a spot in Tuesday’s national championship game in Indianapolis.

UConn won all three previous meetings, including the Big East tournament final.

Their matchup Sunday comes 10 years after they faced off in the 2001 national semifinals, with Notre Dame winning in part because UConn freshman star Diana Taurasi shot 1-for-15 from the field.

Taurasi then led UConn to three straight titles from 2002 to ’04. Now, it’s 3,000-point scorer Maya Moore — who lost as a freshman in the 2008 Final Four semifinals — who can make UConn the first women’s program to win three straight titles on two separate occasions.
