Stick a fork in the Dowager Countess, Mr. Bates. “Downton Abbey” will be back for a sixth season, and it could be the show’s last. but it almost definitely will be the end for star Maggie Smith, who’s reportedly looking to hang up her impressive Dowager Countess hats after one more bout of sneering insults and tut-tutting. “They say this is the last one, and I can’t see how it could go on,” Smith tells the Sunday Times. “I mean, I certainly can’t keep going. To my knowledge, I must be 110 by now. We’re into the late 1920s.” As to who “they” are, good question, as creator Julian Fellowes has been cagey about when the series will end. But it sounds like he’s already given Smith an idea.
