Malden man charged with punching bus driver

A Malden man was arrested for assaulting a bus driver early Tuesday morning.

MBTA Police responded to a report of an assault on a bus driver at Malden Center Station at about 12:45 a.m.

The driver told police that a man got on the bus at the Commercial Street bus stop and didn’t pay his fare. The driver told him to pay or get off the bus. The man allegedly started making threats. The driver stopped the bus and the man allegedly struck him in the face with his hands.

Officers caught up to Mohamed Noor, 29, of Malden, who was in the process of walking away from the station, and tried to speak with him. Noor allegedly became combative towards the officers, threatening them with physical harm.

Noor was placed into custody for Assaulting a Public Employee and Disorderly Conduct and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.
