Man accused of hurling neighbor’s dog

FRANKLIN SQUARE – Police arrested a man after they said he tossed a neighbor’s dog 6 feet in the air and 10 feet onto the road Saturday afternoon during a sidewalk dispute.

Jamie Sanchez, 56, claimed the pup was walking too close to his lawn on Robin Road, cops said.

Sanchez warned his neighbor, who lives across the street, that if her 1-year-old dachshund, Coco, relieved herself on his front yard, he’d let his own 50-pound dog loose on both of them, police said.

Sanchez and his neighbor argued, said police, and then he allegedly grabbed the dog’s leash and flung her 6 feet in the air, according to police.

The pooch landed 10 feet away in the middle of the road, where she injured her tail and ruptured stitches from recent surgeries.

The dog was taken to a veterinarian for treatment.

Sanchez was arrested and charged with animal torture and endangerment. He was arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
