Man faces charges in abduction of disabled teen

A man suspected of abducting a 16-year-old girl at gunpoint from a park over the weekend is in police custody, facing a long list of charges.

Tactical units surrounded a home at 34 Avenue and 58 Street around 11 p.m. Saturday. The suspect, 25-year-old Kyle Bowler, quickly surrendered and was placed under arrest.

An Amber Alert was sent out Saturday afternoon, after police learned a disabled teenager was abducted from Weinlos Park, where she was hanging out with friends after a Friday night party.

The shaken teen appeared on the doorstep of a home six blocks from the park she was snatched from, about a half hour after the alert was issued.

She was taken to hospital for evaluation.

The search for the suspect continued through the day, until he was located at the Mill Woods home later that night.

Bowler was taken into custody on 15 outstanding warrants.

Child Protection officers are heading the abduction investigation, and charges in connection are expected in the next coming days.
