Man stabbed in Commons after argument

An argument between two males in the early morning hours Wednesday resulted in a 23-year-old being stabbed in the Dartmouth Commons area.

Halifax Regional Police say at 4:16 a.m., a man and his girlfriend were walking through the Commons area and began arguing. A male suspect then approached the two and words were exchanged between the two men.

Police say the situation then escalated and the suspect stabbed the victim. Police wouldn’t say where the man was stabbed, but he’s in hospital with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

“At this point, we haven’t been able to fully interview the victim to and his girlfriend,” said police spokesman Const. Brian Palmeter. “That’s something that’s hopefully going to be taking place (Thursday).”

Police also don’t have a solid description of the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact HRP at 490-5016 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
