MANCHESTER, England – Manchester United has lured a defensive prospect from Manchester City, with Frederic Veseli switching between the fierce rivals on transfer deadline day.
The 19-year-old Swiss centre back will initially have to impress in United’s reserve side to earn a spot in the first team.
Veseli says “Manchester United has a long history of younger players coming through and hopefully I can follow and do the same.”
Veseli captained Switzerland to victory in the under-17 World Cup in 2009 and was part of the City senior squad which toured the United States last summer.
United sold 18-year-old midfielder Ravel Morrison to West Ham on Tuesday after a series of disciplinary issues.
