Manners matter, even on the sidewalk

Re: Anne Hines (Manners matter, even in a recession, March 2)

This was a great article on manners.

What we need is a series of articles reminding people how to walk politely when the sidewalks and other pedestrian areas are crowded.

When I grew up, the school systems and our parents taught us how to walk politely and respectfully.

Mobility etiquette is so important. There is a mobility convention that applies to walking. If one does not want to practise safe and considerate walking, he or she should not be allowed out of the home without an educated escort.

I know most basics, but very few others do, including the politicians and mobility “experts” in our public services.
