Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz has endorsed City Council Speaker Christine Quinn in the mayoral race, The Daily News reports.
Markowitz will not support either of his fellow Brooklynites in the race, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio and former Comptroller Bill Thompson.
“I think the goal is to elect to most qualified person to be mayor, regardless of where they live,” the borough president told The News.
“And I think it is time for a woman to be mayor of New York City,” he said.
Markowitz said he was impressed with the way Quinn handled the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy as well as her commitment to revive the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
