Mayor Menino on the prowl as students settle in

Mayor Menino will kick off the annual weeklong Student Turnover Campaign neighborhood walkthrough of the Fenway.

As students swiftly swamp the city streets, Mayor Thomas Menino will greet them with brochures, advice and conduct code compliance inspections.

Making sure everyone knows the rules, the mayor, along with staff from the city’s Inspectional Services Department, will stroll through student-heavy areas and distribute educational brochures.

In the past, students have been guilty of overcrowding, not cleaning out garbage and other offenses.

These activities often lead to mice infestations and bed bug problems, according to a city employee in a report Metro did several weeks back.

For the first time, Northeastern University co-op students that work at the Mayor’s 24-Hour Hotline will serve as iAmbassadors throughout the city, providing fellow students with valuable information about living Boston, according to a press release.
