Mayoral hopeful moves past staff ‘fiasco’

A Calgary mayoral candidate is forging ahead with his campaign despite what he called a “fiasco” this week at the start of his bid.

George Dadamo said he was forced to let go of his assistant Joshua Bredo just hours after he announced his mayoral bid when controversy surrounding his aide’s past came to light. Bredo is alleged to have used several aliases over the past year and been involved in other alleged incidents.

“I usually have good intuition when I am face-to-face with people, but I guess this time I was wrong,” Dadamo said of the decision to hire Bredo. “It was an error on my part, but we want to recuperate and move on.”

“I just want to send a strong message we are not going to stop in our bid,” he added.
