Mediocre Tom Brady can’t show

The common theme over the next couple of weeks regarding Tom Brady’s struggles against the Ravens in the AFC championship game will be that Brady NEVER has poor back-to-back outings.

Well, that’s not entirely true.

If you’re going by Brady’s unbelievably high standards, look no further than the last time the Patriots were in this position to find two consecutive games in which he played poorly.

In the 2007 AFC championship game against San Diego, Brady finished with a QB rating of 66.4 and tossed three interceptions to go along with two touchdown passes and 209 yards.

Two weeks later, in Super Bowl XLII against the Giants, Brady was better with an 82.5 QB rating and 266 yards passing. He did not throw an interception, but he only tossed one touchdown. Those are fine numbers for most quarterbacks, but for Tom Brady, it was yet another stinker.

As a reference point, Brady had just four games in 2011 in which he finished the game with a below 100 QB rating.

Of course, his worst game of the 2011 season came against the Giants at home, in which he had a 75.4 QB rating with two interceptions and two TD passes.
