Take a stroll along Queen Street West on a summer day and you will likely stumble upon a small, homemade puppet booth, whose furry denizens would like nothing more than to sing you a song. About cats. Or dogs. Or your favourite fruit. In a charming Bermudan accent. There’s a notable contrast between the trendier-than-thou strip of downtown occupied by puppeteer Alexander Winfield, and the type of silly, unusual, even endearing street performances he puts on each weekend. But the accomplished performer simply wants to connect with people, make them laugh or, at the very least, sing them a song about bananas.
