Metropolitan Museum of Art makes 400,000 art images available for free download

The Metropolitan Museum of art has just made 400,000 high-resolution digital images from its amazing collection available to download for free.

The museum has created an initiative called Open Access for Scholarly Content (OASC) that was created to provide people with access to art images that the museum believes to be in the public domain.

The Director and CEO of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Thomas P. Campbell released his opinion regarding this new web programin press release on the museum’s website.

“Through this new, open-access policy, we join a growing number of museums that provide free access to images of art in the public domain. I am delighted that digital technology can open the doors to this trove of images from our encyclopedic collection.”
