Mets can make all the excuses, but it’s Amed Rosario time

What’s the holdup?

The All-Star break has come and gone and New York Mets top prospect Amed Rosario is still not in the Major Leagues.

The 21-year-old shortstop continues to rake in triple-A Las Vegas, but the Mets have found reasons to keep him in the minors.

Last month, it was because they weren’t happy with his patience at the plate. They do have a point as he’s walked just 21 times in 359 at-bats.

Now, reports have surfaced that his arrival would negatively affect the Mets’ clubhouse, mainly Asdrubal Cabrera.

The veteran shortstop has had a trying season that’s seen him shifted from shortstop to second base. While he publicly asked for a trade and then rescinded it, it’s apparent that his relationship with the team is in a precarious spot.  

The fact of the matter is, Rosario presents the best possible infielding option regardless of Cabrera’s attitude and Jose Reyes’ hot streak.
