Montreal rockers feel right at home at Bluesfest

Wintersleep is no stranger to Ottawa Bluesfest.

When they perform at Bluesfest in the ByWard tomorrow night, it will mark the Montreal-based indie rockers’ fourth time playing the festival.

“It’s always been really good for us,” said Wintersleep founding member and lead guitarist Tim D’Eon of the festival. “I definitely think Bluesfest helped us out earlier in our career.”

The band’s free show, on the Pop Life Stage in the ByWard Market tomorrow night, is the band’s way of giving back to the community, said D’Eon. “It’s nice to play free shows whenever you can. It’s nice to give back to the fans who are always paying to see us.”

Extending Bluesfest to the Market is a great idea, he said.

“I think it’s good for culture and people who are hanging out in the market,” he said. “People might hear us playing and stop and hang out for a set.”
