Mooseheads’ Delmas goes pro

Halifax Mooseheads overage netminder Peter Delmas is going professional.

The Bedford puckstopper has signed a contract with the American Hockey League’s Hamilton Bulldogs, the farm team of the Montreal Canadiens.

No terms were disclosed.

Delmas, 20, attended both the Canadiens and Bulldogs camp as a tryout.

The second-round draft pick of the Colorado Avalanche in 2008 played in one pre-season game with Hamilton and made 23 saves in a 3-2 win against the Binghamton Senators.

The other two netminders on Hamilton’s season-opening roster are Curtis Sanford and Robert Nayer.

The contract to Delmas clears up the overage situation with Halifax, which had four 20-year-olds on its roster, one more than is allowed to dress for league games.
